Good Times
Insight
According to Oxford University’s Reuters Institute, 39% of people sometimes or often actively avoid the news. We need a fresh perspective - free of harmful agendas and judgement. A reliable source of information without the negative side effects. Good Times is a concept broadsheet newspaper providing a solution to this problem.
Concept
We are passionate about mental health; we believe that it has a knock-on effect that heavily influences our society. Many people have heard the phrase ‘Hurt people hurt people”, meaning that those who have been hurt go on to be the ones that cause hurt to others. However, we prefer to fixate on the positive knock-on effect of personal development and self-care. When we work on ourselves and take care of our mental health, we are more likely to treat others with kindness. In other words, “Healed people, heal people”.
We hope that our readers can reimagine the news in way that leaves them refreshed, reflective and hopeful for the future after they read it.
Content
Each article puts a positive twist on topics commonly addressed in the news, teaching readers how to reverse the negative effects of social media, use grief to fuel personal growth and focus on future opportunities rather than past failures. Illustrated pull-out posters feature positive affirmations, ending with “Mind Games” designed not only to pass the time, but also to insight reflection.
